Ok, people, just because I thought this might clear some questions up in the future, I have created a brief (yes, Pery, this is indeed brief! It was originally 6 pages long!) history of my created race, CLOR! *appaulse* If you are or ever will be Rping with a Clor, please read as far as Clor traits. Trust me, itll come in handy! Now, if you are to RP one of my babies, you are required to read the whole thing (yes, Apple, you must!).
A SEMI-BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CLOR RACE By KT Babb
BASIC DISCRIPTION: Put in simplest terms, a Clor is a shapeshifter. It is not a power to be on all races, Clor is a race itself, like human or elf. If there would be a baby born to a Clor mother and a human father, the child would most likely to have no or very little powers. By keeping their blood pure, so they keep their powers pure. Clor look human. Since every human looks different, so do Clor. The only distinguishing mark of a Clor is one eye is almost always gray. Only about ten percent of the Clor race have two clearly colored eyes, so it isnt completely unheard of. Clor make up about 30% of the population, but many will claim their bloodline holds a little Clor. CLOR TRIATS: As stated above, Clor have the ability to take on any animal shape at will. This can also include mystical creatures. The catch, however, is that even in a mystical form, they cannot perform any magics. So, as an example, if a Clor needed the size and fearsome shape of a dragon, they would be just that. There would be no breath powers or magical resistances of any kind. This rule is for both in and out of creature form. It is very, very rare to see a spellcaster Clor. It is estimated that within the past 50,000 years, only fifteen have existed, and even those select few were not born with it. Their body, being of pure nature, rejects magic most of the time. This magic must be acquired by some outside source. When these magics are finally achieved the are almost always of earthen powers. Despite years of training on perfecting these skills, the Clor Mage will never fully have complete magical power. Clor have the ability to communicate telepathically with each other. By this means, they can not only speak words, but also send emotions and images. Clor can only communicate with other creatures by first taking on the animals form. As for a Clor's tolerance of alchohol...well...it doesn't take much to get a Clor drunk. But, to counter that aweful triat, it doesn't take much to get them sober again! A piece of bad news, a threat, willpower, or something just not going the way they planned is all it will take to recover. When a Clor becomes completely enraged, their inbreed bestial instinct runs wild in what is often referred to as an Involuntary Shift. In this state, the said Clor can no longer control how its body will change. The end result is a grotesquely terrifying form, resembling something along the lines of a werewolf. Its detailed form really depends on the individual Clor, for indeed some Involuntary Forms have horns, wings, or other such appendages. During an Involuntary Shift, the Clor becomes blind to reason and starts attacking either whatever made it angry, or anything within its reach. Depending on the level of anger, the Shift only lasts, on average, ten minutes. The body will slowly morph back into its proper shape. Afterwards, the Clor is almost always exhausted and famished. Every Clor is capable of it, and all will Shift at one time or another, but as to how often depends on their personality. Another trait of a Clor is what is derogatorily known as the Terror Freeze. When sheer panic takes hold of a Clor, they fill freeze solid, unable to move or shift. If, indeed, they find enough self-control to shift, it is usually not into a very helpful form. The frequency of ones Freezes, much like that of Involuntary Shifts, depends on the individual, though it is often rumored that one who does it often isnt of the purest blood line. There is no fact in this, for it can happen to any Clor.
EVENINGS FELL The one and only Clor holiday. Not many races have a holiday just to celebrate who they are! Evenings Fell starts on the first week of spring. A Clor will set off on a journey, traveling the well taken roads. The object is to meet up with other Clor and travel with them. These parties can range in size from two to fifty! They travel together for three weeks, just getting to know each other and having a good time. On the last day of the three weeks, a large party is held, usually in the middle of the woods. Each members singles out another, and makes them a personal gift. There is a great time had by all.
LEGEND OF THE ORGIN OF THE CLOR RACE: The origin of the Clor race has always been told by a story as transcribed by Prophetess ____ in The Book of Pasts. In the story, the ancient Quetecian Gods (who are long forgotten by most today) created a world of the human race. Festius, the God of Creatures, fell desperately in love with a village girl. He knew in his heart that they could never have a life together, but Festiuss love was too strong. He came to earth and slept with his mortal love. Upon his fifth day on earth, his presence was missed. He was whisked away back to his heavenly home. Yet as he was pulled back, the god cried out to his love that he would leave some of him with her forever. Months later, she gave birth to the very first Clor. Clor to this day will call themselves the Children of Festius. It is not uncommon for a Clor to have a superiority complex about who they are.
CLOR THROUGHOUT HISTORY: Clor have been around for as long as anyone can remember. It has been told that Clor were one of the founding races when time began. For years, Clor lived harmoniously with other races. Clor had no reason to wage wars, or to fight for superiority. They were content as is. That changed slightly in the year 427 on the continent of Quetec. Roester Truard, a Clor who ruled the area now known as Keltet. In his quest for power, he rallied an army, comprised completely of Clor. A bloody and savage war was waged for five years. Documented below is a journal entry from the year 427 of a solider from the Northern Resistance army as led by King Dolmer: ..this is the fourth day of a single battle. My legion has lost over half its men. The army of Clor lead by Truard himself is more savage than demons from the seventh hell! Within minutes, I can face anywhere from humans, to lions, to gigantic eagles, to a God awful, disfigured human form. Their ferocity in battle makes them an impossible opponent. I think more and more everyday that we are fighting a loosing battle. The gods rest our souls if they wind this war.. That war was won in the autumn of 431. The army of King Dolmer defeated Truard at The Battle of Dinmar Valley. Truard was captured and executed on the spot. It has been rumored that his last words before the swords blow vowed his return through his lineage. To this day, people of the sir name Truard have been known for their ferocity and stubbornness. The years of rebuilding after the war ended up shaping Quetec as we know it today. It took many years for the Clor population to grow back from its war status, for many of the soldiers bred with the women of conquered towns, making a large amount of Cross Bloods. Within the next fifty years, the Clor population was back to normal. For years and years no major conflict revolved around the race. But a discovery made by King Farlair of the Southern Kingdom changed their race forever. On the first month of the year 882 on the continent of Quetec, an arrest was made on a young Clor by the name of Adar on suspicion for conspiracy. After a few days of torture, she spilled word of a society of Clor at a place called Entradea. She claimed that the leaders there dictated control over the elements. Not believing her story, and then being found guilty, Adar as executed. The Clors body burst into flames and left a single orb. An orb that was Pure Essence of Malice, Adars element from Entradea. King Farlair decided he would find this place and take it over himself. He issued a law saying that all Clor were to be brought to him. Most were killed. The war finally waged three years after. Not only did Farlair attack, but his previous captain-of-the-guard, Delnorm, had broke away and attacked on his own, seeking the power for himself. The final battle only lasted three days, and Farlair and Delnorm were never seen again. One can only assume the found what they were looking for.
CLOR TODAY GreyStar RP begins in the year 900 and many of the animosity towards Clor has died down, though you will still find a die hard hater every now and then. Clor themselves are sill getting used to the fact that they are no longer hunted around every concern, and many have adjusted well. Clor are now able to get high profile jobs once more. No longer do they hide themselves. The are Clorand they are proud. As for the legend of Entradea, saying that it is indeed Clor that control the world around you. Despite the overwhelming evidence of the War of 882, many people still think it a myth. As for Clor, they dont think it exists They know it does
